Montgomery :: Overview

First Impression: Montgomery's tree-lined streets and comfortable, family-oriented lifestyle give this small city a suburban ambiance, while its central location off I-71 and I-275 makes it convenient to Downtown and many other suburban areas. Affluent and quiet, it also boasts an historic central downtown area and a wide variety of dining and shopping options. It's also just blocks away from some of Cincinnati's most upscale shopping, Kenwood Towne Centre.

Second Look: Montgomery is a small city of 10,200 people spread over 5.3 square miles. It is a quiet, upscale neighborhood that consciously emphasizes the creation of an attractive environment in which to live, work and shop. The median income is between $75,000 and $100,000, which contributes to the feeling of abundance in the area.

Close enough to Downtown to be considered central, but with architecture and amenities characteristic of bigger suburbs, the key to Montgomery is convenience. It is within close driving distance of Downtown and surrounding suburbs, but there is no real need to leave for any necessity. Montgomery provides its own array of dining, shopping and nightlife options, but also benefits from its close proximity to Kenwood Towne Centre, perhaps Cincinnati's most upscale shopping mall.

Montgomery has a very walkable downtown area, reminiscent of a European village. Founded in 1795 and a common stop on the Cincinnati-Columbus-Cleveland Railroad from the 1880s on, Montgomery remained a small community until the 1960s, when workers began building homes there. It incorporated as a city in 1970, and is well known for its handsome residential areas and high-achieving schools. It contains a major hospital, Bethesda North, and many surrounding medical offices.

Overall, Montgomery's combination of established, tree-lined residential areas, excellent dining and shopping options, and its convenient location make it a pleasant, peaceful place to live or to visit.
